Trailblazing

Trailblazing

Create pathways for others to follow

Trailblazing is leadership!

Leaders see where the traffic is not.

They determine to cut down trees and clear away bush,

They walk this way day after day, until a trail appears.

The day comes when someone determines that the way should be made more comfortable. This someone will organize a team to cut and assemble slacks of plastic and wood fiber material creating a boardwalk. This boardwalk makes the trail more inviting and more people start using the boardwalk for leisure walks.

Another day comes when another person determines that this path of leisure should be made more safe. This other person will organize a team to cut and assemble planks and columns of wood material creating a railing. This railing makes the trail even more inviting and even more people start using the boardwalk. Now there are cyclists and joggers using the trail.

One day another will come, and another, and another and the possibilities of what the teams assemble are many; benches, wildflower beds, bird feeder stations, water fountains, book exchange stands, restrooms, picnic areas, a small cafe...?

It takes just one trailblazer with determination and consistency to transform an old rugged way into a highly used trail.

Indeed, trailblazing is leadership!
